"There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea."
Kim was quoted as saying that if the USA takes "genuine measures for building trust", then the North can reciprocate in a "commensurate" fashion - suggesting that the US will have to make concessions before North Korea. Trump said the negotiations he has initiated should help improve conditions in the isolated country, which successive USA administrations have targeted for gross human rights violations.
Before the summit in Singapore between Trump and Kim, Artyom Kozhin, deputy director of the Russian foreign ministry's press department said: "We are calling on the USA and North Korea to refrain from inflated expectations, and ask them not to knowingly advance unfeasible demands that may derail the process of negotiations".
North and South are also likely to renew their push towards a declaration that the 1950-53 Korean war is over, after fighting stopped in an armistice rather than a peace treaty.
The news on television and the front page of the ruling Workers' Party newspaper was something North Koreans never would have imagined just months ago - their leader Kim Jong Un warmly shaking hands with President Donald Trump.
The newspaper had been quick off the mark to cover Kim Jong Un's trip, plastering it's Tuesday edition with pictures and stories of Kim travelling with officials and sightseeing.
North Korea could begin giving up its weapons today if it wanted to, but it instead has insisted on staging performances of denuclearization rather than on inviting worldwide inspectors to verify its progress.

That may be on the table for their next meeting-as the North Korean media reported, the two leaders "gladly accepted" each other's invitation to their respective country.
But no rational and objective observer who followed the summit and saw Trump and Kim behaving so cordially can believe that Trump is leading the USA into a nuclear war with North Korea.
Trump said he believes that Kim will "immediately" begin dismantling his nuclear complexes when he arrives back in Pyongyang.
It said Trump made the promise after pledging to end joint military exercises with South Korea, which provoked mixed reaction in the US.
"The fact is, Trump has the unique skills necessary to connect with Kim", Jordan Klepper explained at The Opposition.
Senator Bob Corker said on Tuesday that he wanted Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to brief senators on the substance of what the two nations discussed, including whether U.S. troops stationed on the Korean Peninsula would remain.
"It's propaganda in the end", said Jeong Hyung-gon, a research fellow at the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy. "They are expressing their thoughts in order to cover their weaknesses".
Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told reporters Wednesday that Trump's drills suspension announcement was "another proof that China's proposal is legitimate, is reasonable (and) it addresses the concerns of the two sides".
Kim is reportedly tetchy about his weight gain.
