The PSG attacker had been sidelined since February 25, when he fractured a metatarsal and sprained his ankle in a Ligue 1 match against Marseille.

Tite was left delighted on Sunday as Neymar made his return to football following a metatarsal injury, and the former Barcelona star exchanged shirts with a former rival in Luka Modric after the match ended.

Neymar injured the same foot playing for Paris Saint-Germain and underwent surgery in Brazil in early March.

Before Neymar's brilliant opener, Croatia might have struck first when Ante Rebic's header forced a fine save from Alisson.

And much to the delight of the sizeable home support, Liverpool playmaker Roberto Firmino added the second in added time to wrap up a comfortable win for the Brazilians.

"He will have to go through stages - he is going to have his ups and downs but by the third, fourth or fifth game he will be back to his level".

Brazil have Neymar on the bench and he is expected to come on at half time.

Brazil and Croatia are in Liverpool as they prepare for the World Cup later this month.
