CL: Juventus can beat Real Madrid in double header, says Gianluigi Buffon

The two teams square off again this season in the first leg of the quarter-finals today and Buffon is determined to avoid the same mistake they made a year ago.

"This is a gala night for us, and our fans must be proud of a team who reached the final twice in the last three years".

"Maybe with the national team Isco is different because he has eight matches with them [in a season], whereas here there are 60", he said. The season did not go as well as we expected but I'm happy because now we are in good form.

Defending champion Real Madrid has a tough hurdle against Juventus in a repeat of the 2017 final, while Sevilla, the third of the Spanish contingent left in the competition, entertains German high-flyers Bayern Munich in the first legs of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Juventus Manager Massimiliano Allegri wants the Bianconeri to maintain their focus against Real Madrid.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference, he said: "Of course, we have watched the final again several times, and I would say that the team, especially in Europe but also in Serie A, has improved a lot, especially in managing the hard moments during the match".

"We may well concede, but it's 180 minutes so we'll also have chances to score goals because they also allow you those kind of chances".

Allegri is likely to start with a 4-2-3-1 system.

"There is a lot of respect for Real Madrid, but it doesn't mean we can't beat them".

"I hope the players do not think that way", Zidane said.

ZINEDINE ZIDANE probably didn't get the welcome he was expecting on his first return to Juventus as manager. Real have won 10 out of their last 11 matches, brushing aside Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 and moving within four points of second-placed Atletico Madrid in the league in the process. Perhaps the major question mark is the status of Mario Mandzukic, who hasn't trained properly because of injury and is therefore a doubt.
