A Quiet Place made John Krasinski a horror person

One of the most buzzed-about horror films of the year, A Quiet Place tells the story of a family forced to live in utter silence, lest they be killed by bloodthirsty monsters with unnaturally good hearing.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, John Krasinski talked about visiting his wife and A Quiet Place co-star, Emily Blunt, when he ran into a surly customs agent in London. It started when the agent saw that Krasinski's an actor and asked if he'd know him from anything. "And then I hit this guy who was about my age", Krasinski said. All the agent had to say about that was, "You?!". He explained, "It certainly hit home for us, we had just had our second daughter [Violet] three weeks before I read the first script, so it's been an immensely personal movie".

Blunt herself wasn't all too familiar with her husband-to-be before they met.

"I don't know if you know, Emily just shot a movie, it's a small indie movie called "Mary Poppins".

"He goes, 'You??'" Krasinski recited, 'You?!' before angrily stamping his passport and telling him to leave. Sure, a part of the appeal of The Office is that the characters themselves weren't working to be amusing as much as they were reacting genuinely based on their personalities.

"The two ways I saw this going were I asked her if she wanted to do this movie and she just said 'no, ' that would have been a very awkward dinner", Krasinski recalled. "I was like, 'I'm so sorry'".

The actor, who has two daughters, four-year-old Hazel and one-year-old Violet, with Emily, also revealed that his eldest is like a "manipulative, negative Jedi" who once used her cleverness against him.

'I said blue, and I knew her favorite color was blue and she went, "Oh. There's purple,"' John said.
