Harvey Weinstein 'Casting Couch' Statue Debuts Ahead of Oscars

A tour van drives past an art piece showing a bathrobe-clad Harvey Weinstein seated atop a couch and clutching an Oscar statue on the sidewalk along Hollywood Blvd.

The all-gold statue features Weinstein sitting on his infamous casting couch, which is propped on top of a red carpet.

The aim of the installation was to place the spotlight on the crisis of sexual abuse in the Hollywood entertainment industry and on the disgraced film producer.

The statue is being called "The Casting Couch".

The golden statue, called "Casting Couch", features a man that looks an terrible lot like Weinstein wearing a bathrobe.

"Hopefully now in the light of recent allegations against many leading figures in Hollywood the industry will clean up it's (sic) act", he said.

The life size sculpture took 2 months to produce with Ginger taking care of the head and upper body, Initially a casting was taken from a similar sized friend and then Ginger skilfully molded the face to match Weinstein's bloated, unshaven appearance.

The real Weinstein was felled in the wake of explosive October reports in The New York Times and The New Yorker detailing complaints that he had sexually harassed and assaulted dozens of women.

Plastic Jesus has created a series of Oscar-timed statues, including one previous year of Kanye West in a crucified pose and titled "False Idol".

The life-sized Weinstein sculpture was on display today on Hollywood Boulevard.
