The NBA was jolted Sunday by news that longtime agent Dan Fegan was killed in a auto accident.

Fegan, 56, was at one point a representative for other big-name players including Chandler Parsons, DeAndre Jordan, Austin Rivers, and Ed Davis.

Fegan was trying to cross or merge onto Highway 82 when his SUV was broadsided by a Roaring Forks Transportation Authority bus at around 9:22 a.m., The Colorado State Patrol told The Aspen Times. Although no one on the bus received injuries but Fegan's 5-year-old son and his 29-year-old woman were hospitalized and were said to be in critical condition. "We ask for privacy at this hard time", the statement added.

Howard reacted to the news on Twitter, writing, "My heart and prayers go out to the family, especially Dan's young son who was apparently injured in this accident".

During his career Fegan represented high-profile players such as DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall and Dwight Howard. In March 2017, he was sacked by his employer Independent Sports and Entertainment (ISE) on the claim that he was "poisoning employer's business". "The name of the woman has not been released", reports the Aspen Times. I am forever grateful for what you did for me and will never forget that. The two sides filed lawsuits, with Fegan seeking $30 million in damages for fraud and intentional interference with contractual relations.

Fegan was among the NBA's most powerful agents, one known for aggressive tactics when negotiating on behalf of his clients.

The NBA world mourned the sudden passing of a prominent league fixture Sunday night.
