They shared their Olympic debuts not only with each other, but also with their event itself as these are the first Games to include mixed doubles.

Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten, engaged to be married, downed the top-ranked Canadians 9-6 on day one of the mixed doubles tournament here.

The last time Matt and Becca Hamilton faced off against Russian Federation in mixed doubles curling was at the 2017 World Championships, a match in which they were defeated 7-5. "It was just kind of a bonehead play not taking the power play in six".

Ultimately, he said they're both each other's biggest fan, which helps in both mixed doubles together and their individual events.

"He brought me into the game, so I guess what better partner can I find than someone that brought me up?" said Becca.
