GSP Vs Conor McGregor Not Happening Says Dana White

Don't expect a Conor McGregor return to the UFC's Octagon in early 2018.

With regards to a potential opponent for McGregor, who hasn't fought in the UFC since November 2016, White insisted that the Irishman would have to defend his 155lbs crown. The MMA legend vacated the title just 31 days later, though. However, White shot down any notion that the UFC should have stripped McGregor of the lightweight title by now.

White also stated, in an interview on Undisputed, that the victor of the UFC 219 fight between Edson Barboza and Khabib Nurmagomedov could determine the next fight for Ferguson while he is awaiting the return of McGregor.

Despite rampant speculation in recent weeks, we don't know what Conor McGregor is doing next. We don't know if that's ever going to happen, though. "Anything is possible", White said on FOX Sports 1's Undisputed.

"I don't know, man". I've been asking for that fight for over a year and a half now", Zahabi said, according to Express Sport, adding, "I don't think it's a insane fight. McGregor and Diaz ultimately fought twice, after Diaz won the first contest. "It would probably be the biggest fight in UFC history and MMA history and that record wouldn't be broken for ten years". "The question is does he want to come back and do it? I think he jumped in, grabbed some cash and went back to Canada". If whoever wins the Barboza-Khabib fight while we're trying to figure out this Conor mess, could end up fighting Tony Ferguson for the opportunity to fight Conor McGregor so we'll see.

Despite becoming the lone UFC fighter to hold world titles in two weight divisions simultaneously, McGregor has never once defended either one. "If he wants to come back, Tyron Woodley or Robert Whittaker is waiting for him".
