Civilization VI is now on iPad, but it's not cheap

Civilization VI was released all the way back in October past year, but now it turns out that a whole new group of players can join the fun, as the game has been released on iPad, requiring a rather hefty 3.14GB download to get going.

For iPad, Civilization VI requires iOS 11.0 or later and will run on an iPad Air or newer, iPad mini 2 or newer, or any iPad Pro model.

Civilization VI now costs $29.99 on the iOS App Store as part of a launch discount, with it slated to go up to its regular price of $59.99 on January 4. Civilization VI of course is a turn-base strategy game in which players compete alongside AI opponents to grow a civilization from tribe to world domination. And as a full version reconfigured for touch controls on Apple's iPad, the turn-based war strategy game will let gamers walk, pace, and move, untethered by a PC or a game console. However, with the release of a full game for the iPad, it looks like the franchise is eyeing the mobile industry as its target market. While this may seem unusual for an iPad game, since it is the exact same thing which appeared on PC, it is kind of okay. It's free to download and play, but it's not a free game.

Civilization VI came out for PC on October 21, 2016.

If $60 is too much for you, then you're in luck (kind of).

And it's not the trial version or some joke-half of game.

Local multiplayer is available but as to whether online and cross-platform multiplayer will be supported, that's as yet unknown. After that, you have to buy it.

- Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. Today, you can get the PC version for $30, and the deluxe version with additional content is just $10 more.

If you liked Revolution on iPad, or you're new to the series, definitely give this a try - at least for the free 60 turns.
