The Badgers tumbled three places with the loss to sit behind The Ohio State who rose to #5.

The Big Ten-champion Buckeyes will play in the Cotton Bowl on December 29 against Pac-12 champion Southern California.

Last season, the committee bypassed Big Ten champ Penn State to take Ohio State. Wisconsin, which lost to the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday to suffer its first loss, dropped from No. 4 to No. 6.

It was down to the Tide and the Buckeyes (11-2) for the final spot and the committee ultimately went with Nick Saban's squad.

The stage is set for another loaded College Football Playoff.

No. 1 Clemson (12-1) defeated No. 4 Alabama (11-1) in last year's championship game after losing to the Tide in the previous season's title game.

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett threw touchdown passes and two interceptions in the win against the Badgers. This is Oklahoma's second appearance, and the first time for Georgia.

The Bulldogs will play against the Sooners on Jan.1.

The Tigers will play against the Crimson Tide on January 1, this is the third year in a row the teams will have a game against each other.

Georgia is the first non-Alabama SEC team to make the College Football Playoff.

Despite not playing in the SEC Championship and a relative lack of perceived quality wins, Alabama beat Florida State when the Seminoles were ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25 Poll, in addition to wins over LSU and Mississippi State.

The Crimson tide and Tigers will both be making their third playoff appearances, tying each other for the most appearances in the four-year life of the CFP.
