It's almost time for the talking to stop, with the hours ticking down as Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez's hotly-anticipated contest on the Las Vegas Strip moves ever closer. Cotto is aiming to fight the victor of the Alvarez-Golovkin bout before the end of 2017. But fighting Alvarez would be a great danger for Mayweather now than in 2013, if Canelo wins against Golovkin.

Both men looked in peak condition ahead of their blockbuster meeting in Las Vegas on Saturday, when Golovkin will put his flawless 37-0 record on the line against the Mexican (49-1-1).

The visiting American has two defeats from 23 fights, the most notable being the sixth-round stoppage against Golovkin.

Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) has made 18 straight defenses in the middleweight division and is striving to get closer to the record held by Bernard Hopkins, who has 20 middleweight title defenses between 1994 and 2005. I have seen the interactions between Max and Gennady and at times it is like Max is the older brother.

In what is viewed by many as the most intriguing boxing match of the year, the ice cold Kazakh puncher and the flame-haired Mexican go head to head as two of the sport's biggest names put it all on the line.

Tonight, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin will trade shots for the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, The Ring magazine, and lineal middleweight championship of the world, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Indeed they do, which is one reason Golovkin has had trouble getting fighters in the ring with him. Still, it promises to be a can't miss fight that brings back memories of the great middleweights of the 1980's. Seriously. I watch a lot of movies.

"When I was born, all of the fear had already been given out", he said through a translator, per The Guardian's Bryan Armen Graham.
