Square Enix Announces 'Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition' for Fall 2017 Release

Pocket Edition is an "all-new adventure that retells the beloved story of Final Fantasy XV", Square Enix said in a press release. We've been getting nonstop Final Fantasy news so far at Gamescom, and yesterday you may remember that Square announced what is to be the definitive version of Final Fantasy XV for PC, and most of us thought that it simply couldn't get any better than that.

The PC port of Final Fantasy XV is gonna get weird.

The video of the PC version is 12 minutes of gameplay footage, in stunning 4K- no other version of Final Fantasy runs at this level.

Map and object destruction will also happen, and there are part-based destruction elements like breaking the Guard Scorpion's legs.

This version of the game will also include all Season Pass and free update content already released for the console version, with the addition of a new optional first-person mode for a more immersive player experience.

Monster of the Deep is a fishing game in which you join the main cast of last year's Japanese role-playing hit. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Final Fantasy XV aren't exactly top performers; there are some serious framerate issues there at certain points of the game. The game requires some beefy specs, so only time will tell if Square Enix can get it up and running on the Switch. Yes, you read it right.
