Odell Beckham Jr. will possibly miss the Giants season opener

Beckham was injured Monday in a preseason loss at Cleveland through what some perceived as an unnecessary hit by Browns defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun.

"He's in there. He's got an ankle", McAdoo said.

Giants coach Ben McAdoo said Beckham is day-to-day, but refused to say if Beckham sustained a high ankle sprain, which would likely require a longer recovery period. They ran plays, had receivers catch passes and began preparations for Saturday night's game against the New York Jets.

Beckham "could miss a week or two of the regular season", one source told ESPN.

Not having Beckham or Marshall in the opener would be problematic for the Giants. So second-year wide receiver Roger Lewis Jr. could benefit from the absence of Beckham and Marshall.

Beckham was present in the locker room and during team meetings Wednesday.

"You kind of not want to think about that", cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said.

You can watch the video below and judge for yourself if Odell might've done any serious damage. "On offense, we definitely need to the work". You don't want to put your mind out. The Giants also had Tavarres King and Dwayne Harris on the injury report, but both of them were running on the side. "If it were somebody lying on the table, it would be different". Beckham nearly certainly will not play in the preseason game against the Jets on Saturday, which is expected to be a dress rehearsal for the regular season opener.

Lewis said it's a matter of working and putting into practice what guys like Beckham and Marshall impart. When the Giants practiced with three receivers, Shepard moved inside, where he usually plays, and undrafted rookie Travis Rudolph ran with the starters.
