West Bromwich Albion have rejected a surprise £18 million bid from Manchester City for former Manchester United star Jonny Evans.

Arsenal were successfully swatted away past year, while Leicester have seen two bids rejected earlier in this window.

"And Pep Guardiola is probably looking at that situation thinking can Vincent play every Champions League, Premier League, cup game?"

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has his eyes firmly fixed on a former Manchester United defender.

The West Brom skipper has two years to run on his deal at The Hawthorns but according to the BBC Guardiola is anxious to sign the central defender to stiffen his defence. "He went in to see the doctor at the training ground and came to the ground and told me on Saturday it was sore". That leaves youngster Tosin Adarabioyo as an alternative and while the academy product is highly rated, he is still relatively raw and needs to be eased into first-team experience.

"But this time previous year, Arsenal were interested in him as well". The player moved to West Brom in the summer of 2015 after spending his entire career up until the transfer at Manchester United, with a mammoth 198 senior appearances to his name for the Red Devils.

Evans drew interest from City's Premier League rivals Arsenal last summer, although their approach was also rejected.

Eliaquim Mangala is not in favour at City, and has been linked with Inter Milan.

It has been said that the Baggies have rejected a bid from Leicester City for the defender, but an offer of £25 million (R424 million) from City might be too hard to turn down.
