Nintendo gave us another look at a new game during their Treehouse Presentation today.

For those who've yet to taste the absurd and fun flavors of the original, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser is coming out for the 3DS handheld on October 6. Superstar Saga is a Mario role-playing game that is something of a spiritual successor to Super Mario RPG and the Paper Mario series. This is a separate storyline starring enemy characters, with players recruiting Bowser's minions in order to grow an army and locate their missing leader.

Following a morning packed with new announcements, the Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3 show included in-depth play-throughs of a variety of games for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS systems.

The game's been given an aesthetic overhaul as well, with the same pixel artwork from the original game, according to Nintendo, but 3D lighting added to make things prettier.

One of the Game Boy Advance's seminal RPGs is making a comeback.

To honour this new side-story, Mario and Luigi will also be launching with new Koopa and Goomba amiibo, though what they unlock in game is yet to be revealed. This mode features a brand new additional story that happens parallel alongside the events of Superstar Saga, with a focus on what happened to all of Bowser's scattered minions. The amiibo, and the game, are scheduled to launch separately on October 6.
