The family of Matt Mika released the following update on his condition after Mika was shot this morning during a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia. Baseball is one of his great passions and he has always loved the Congressional team.
Mika is a former aide to Michigan Republican congressman Tim Walberg.
His family released a statement following the shooting, and they are now traveling to Washington, D.C. The statement said that paramedics told them he was shot multiple times and is undergoing surgery.

Walberg, who is from the state's southeast side, on Wednesday expressed his prayers for Mika's recovery, among other lawmakers who came to know Mika over the course of his political career.
U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, also was shot and reportedly is in stable condition.
"We have confirmed that Matt Mika, director-government relations for our Washington, D.C. office, is among those who were shot this morning in Alexandria. He's a great guy".
"Many have asked about Matt and what we can share about him".
He is a 2001 graduate of Adrian College and earned a Master's Degree in 2004 from Western Michigan University. "You know the American people see us on TV debating very contentious issues of concern, but you know when we're off the House and Senate floor, there's a lot of camaraderie", Cotton said.
