According to the Redmond, Wash. tech giant, the next Windows 10 update will include an AI-driven feature the company is calling Microsoft Graph, a so-called "intelligent fabric" that will invite users to automatically documents with the Microsoft cloud, allowing them to close files, websites, or apps on a desktop PC and reopen them on their mobile devices without any steps in between. Throughout the lengthy presentation, we got a glimpse at the not-too-distant future of Windows 10, as well as more information on Microsoft's mixed reality plans, developer tools, and a whole lot more.

That shift to smartphones and tablets also is one of the reasons the next Windows 10 update will include a multi-faceted clipboard to let you copy text, images and other content on a PC and paste it on a phone, even iPhones and Android, as though the PC and phone were one. That recently introduced version, Windows 10 S, can't get apps directly from third parties such as Apple, as regular Windows 10 users can. This integration will enable programmers to quickly check how an app changes after an update. This new feature is called On-Demand files and it works with both OneDrive personal and business as well as SharePoint online.

Shortly after revealing the next big Windows 10 update's name, Microsoft hammered home its focus on creators with Windows Story Remix.

Following on from April's Windows 10 Creators Update, the Fall iteration will be a free download for all existing Windows 10 users.

With Timeline, you can jump back in time into files, apps and sites, using a visual timeline to help you navigate. Originally that feature was intended as part of the Creators Update but it was pulled before release because it was not ready.

While the ability to automatically select, trim and create videos and incorporate them into themes with editable storyboards isn't new, nor is the ability to change music or sync to beats. When you try to open a file that isn't stored on your PC, Windows will download it and open it for you. It should make it easier to resume working on something when you switch devices. Intelligence built into the OS will guess which files you might want to access next-photos in proximity to another you're editing, for example. But rather than being a successor to UWP, Fluent Design System is a design language and design approach, akin to Metro, the touch-friendly interface technology that shipped with Windows 8, Shaw said.

Microsoft will take your raw video clips and photos and assemble them into cute little movies. Microsoft executives described it as a more gradual journey over time. The company showed a video demonstrating the Fluent Design system that the company will be baking into the Fall Creators Update. Expect the operating system to evolve as Microsoft continues to roll out Windows Insider builds until the eventual launch.
