Blackburn suffer drop to League One despite final-day victory

A 3-0 victory for Nottingham Forest against Ipswich and 1-0 success for Birmingham at Bristol City made Blackburn's efforts redundant and they drop into League One for the first time in nearly four decades.

This Blackburn Rovers fan is not particularly confident ahead of next season.

Charlie Mulgrew and Danny Guthrie netted first-half goals for Blackburn, who were relegated despite their win.

Blackburn were Premier League champions in 1995, but their fortunes have dived under the ownership of the Indian poultry firm Venky's.

The new manager's change to a back three proved important in Rovers giving themselves a chance of survival, but it was too late for the 1994-95 Premier League winners.

Rovers started the day occupying the final relegation spot, level with Forest who battled to a 3-0 win over Ipswich Town at the City Ground.
